We are Dennis the Emu and his human wrangler,

Based in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado (USA)

Our absolute favorite pastime is tricking people into learning about ratites (big, dramatic, flightless birds) while strolling through the city's most iconic spots.

You can frequently spot Dennis dragging his wrangler through the stunning landscapes of Garden of the Gods, the historic streets of Manitou Springs, Historical Downtown Tejon Street, and charming Old Colorado City.

When he isn't begging for attention at local tourist attractions, he donates his time visiting school classrooms, senior centers, hospices, and local fundraisers among other events.

Dennis is on a strict mission to distribute community and worldwide Joy, Sunshine, and Education wherever he wanders, (whether the universe is ready for it or not).

After all, nothing turns a frown upside down

quicker than a dinosaur asking for a hug.

Meet the Star

Meet Dennis: A fully grown emu who is single-handedly saving the reputation of his entire species. While other emus are out there picking fights with the Australian military, (iykyk), Dennis is a giant, feathered puppy with a heart of gold.

Thanks to being raised by many foster dogs and his best friend, 'Blue-Dog', he essentially identifies as a 100-pound golden retriever who happens to have a beak.

He is hopelessly social, chronically friendly, and lives for high-stakes outdoor adventures. He’s also a certified viral internet sensation, with tourists from all over the globe tracking him down for selfies across Colorado.

Despite having the digital clout of a Hollywood A-lister, Dennis stays incredibly grounded. Before every single walk, his mom-ager whispers his daily manifestation into his ear:

“You are the most handsome bird in the world, let’s go make someone happy.” Then, they hit the streets to give the general public immediate, joyous whiplash.

Meet My Mom

Billie-Sue Mitchell

Long before Dennis became Dennisaurus-Rex, Billie had a very specific dream: she wanted an emu. Why? Because she was deeply inspired by the progressive parenting dynamics of the species. In the emu world, the male emu is the ultimate stay-at-home dad—he sits on the eggs, hatches them, and raises the babies while the female emu takes off to live her best life. Billie respected the hustle, and says she is so lucky to have the best Emu ever!

Dennis breaks it down from his perspective:

"Look, my mom originally adopted me for guard labor. I was supposed to be the backyard bouncer protecting her ducks and chickens from local hawks and foxes. But I fell in love with her and started following her everywhere like a giant, feathered shadow.

Once we started going on walks, my mom realized that keeping a sweet dinosaur like me in the backyard paddock was an underutilization of my talents. Getting out to explore the world makes me incredibly happy—and the people seem to like me as well. I'm so lucky to have the best mommy ever!
